The Deloitte Personality Test: What to Expect

Deloitte's early recruitment stages combine situational judgement, immersive/gamified exercises and a personality questionnaire that maps you against the firm's values and the competencies of the role. Knowing what each stage rewards is the difference between a profile that fits and one that quietly gets filtered out.

What Deloitte is really assessing

Beyond raw ability, Deloitte screens for a consistent behavioural profile aligned with client work: drive and delivery under pressure, collaboration, integrity, adaptability and commercial curiosity. The personality questionnaire exists to check that the story your CV and interview tell matches how you actually work — and to flag inconsistency.

The personality questionnaire

Like most large employers, Deloitte uses forced-choice style personality assessments (you prioritise one statement over another rather than rating everything “strongly agree”). This produces a profile with genuine peaks and valleys and a consistency score. Recruiters read the shape against the role — a consulting delivery role rewards cooperation and composure; a corporate finance track rewards drive and analytical rigour.

How to prepare

You cannot revise your personality, but you can walk in knowing your own trait ranking so you answer consistently instead of second-guessing. Candidates who run a full forced-choice practice test first, read the report, and note their uncomfortable dimensions perform noticeably better — they recognise the format, they know where they naturally sit, and they don't contradict themselves under time pressure. For the situational and immersive stages, practise picking the most effective response, not the one that flatters you.
