What does a cognitive ability test measure?
Speed and accuracy of reasoning over unfamiliar material — verbal deduction, quantitative logic, spotting what follows and what merely sounds like it follows. It is the strongest single predictor most selection stacks use, which is why it is worth training properly.
Can you improve a cognitive test score?
The underlying trait moves slowly, but test performance moves fast: format familiarity, trap recognition and pacing are all trainable, and they are usually worth more than a band on the scale. That gap is exactly what practice captures.
