The Hogan Personality Inventory (HPI) describes everyday workplace behaviour. The Hogan Development Survey (HDS) focuses on tendencies that can become disruptive under strain. An invitation can include one or several assessments; read its exact wording.

Seven scales versus eleven

The HPI uses seven main scales. The HDS uses eleven main scales. Do not interpret an HDS result as another version of an HPI score or assume that preparing one covers the other.

What response format should you expect?

Hogan introduced four response choices for HPI and HDS in 2018, replacing the earlier true/false format. The choices run from strongly disagree to strongly agree. Follow the instructions in your assessment invitation.
