The Amazon Assessment Test: Work Style & Simulations
Amazon's online assessment usually combines a Work Style Assessment (a personality/values questionnaire) with work simulations and, for some roles, ability tests. Everything is anchored to Amazon's Leadership Principles — and that is the key to answering well.

The Work Style Assessment
The Work Style Assessment maps how you prefer to work against Amazon's culture. You are typically shown two statements and asked which better describes your approach — a forced-choice design that makes you prioritise one work value over another. There is no timer pressure like the ability tests, but there is a right direction: answers consistent with the Leadership Principles.
Answer through the Leadership Principles
Principles like Customer Obsession, Ownership, Bias for Action, Dive Deep, Deliver Results and Earn Trust are the lens Amazon scores you through. When two statements both sound reasonable, the stronger answer is usually the one that reflects taking ownership, moving fast with good judgement, and putting the customer first — provided it is genuinely you. Forcing answers you can't back up in an interview later backfires.
Work simulations
You step into a day-in-the-life scenario and choose how to respond to emails, priorities and problems. Practise picking the most effective, ownership-driven action rather than the most agreeable one.
How to prepare
Read the 16 Leadership Principles until you can recognise them behind a question. Then run a full forced-choice practice test so the two-statement format and the “prioritise one value” mechanic feel natural — and so you answer consistently instead of contradicting yourself across the survey.
