Two modes, two purposes

Understand first. Then build speed.

01

Learn at your own pace

Practice mode gives you time to answer and review. The correction remains until you choose Next: compare your response, the answer and the stimulus. Memory sequences still have limited presentation times so recall remains meaningful.

02

Work under constraints

Timed mode uses format-specific blocks, such as 25 cube nets in 10 minutes or 20 tube views with 20 seconds per question. These settings follow public practice descriptions, not a certified specification of your examination.

Your preparation, module by module

A test name is only the beginning. Understand what the task asks you to do, then check your invitation to confirm the modules relevant to your selection.

PPT · Cube nets

25 presentations

Fold the net mentally. Choose the one cube whose three visible faces can meet in the displayed order. Each pattern identifies a face; a mirror image is not a valid rotation.

SFT · 3D viewpoints

20 presentations

The left cube is the reference. From which side must you view it to obtain the right-hand view? Both drawings show the same tube.

Explore the exercises →

VFF · Hidden figures

24 presentations

Find the hidden shape without turning, reflecting or resizing it. The candidate and the shape in the network have the same size. Exactly one answer is complete.

Explore the exercises →

VLR · Paths and turns

30 presentations

Remember the requested direction: left or right. The path appears one turn at a time. Count only the requested turns in the direction of travel indicated by the start point and arrow. Choose the total at the end. The path speeds up progressively with each new trial.

VMC · N-back memory

300 presentations

Compare each symbol with the one N positions earlier, including shape and colour. Six blocks of 50 presentations; N is announced before each block. Initial symbols build your memory.

MEK · Visual associations

16 presentations

Learn 16 associations progressively. New pairs appear while you recall numbers from older pairs. Learning displays disappear after a limited time, even in practice; only your answer can wait. This version uses practice timings, not official time allowances.

OWT · Dial reading

20 presentations

Remember only dials in the indicated category: round, square, light or dark. Read left to right, top to bottom. After they disappear, enter the values in that order. The scale runs from 1 to 8 with missing labels.

SKT · Concentration

400 presentations

Before each block, memorise the traits assigned to ↑ and ↓. Compare with the previous triangle. For the first triangle or no match, press →. Each block has 40 triangles with 0–4 dots. Rules change between blocks.

DRT · Position and rules

300 presentations

Memorise the colour–movement rules before each block. Answer with 7, 9, 1 or 3: same position, horizontally opposite, vertically opposite or diagonally opposite. The mapping changes every 30 squares.

RMS · Auditory memory

25 presentations

Listen to a sequence of unknown length. Recall as many digits as possible in reverse order, starting from the last. Consecutive correct digits count up to the first error. The required length is not shown.

Explore the exercises →

ROT · Cube rotation

20 presentations

Audio commands: ↑ tips backward, ↓ forward; ← and → tip over the side edges. No rotation around the vertical axis.

Explore the exercises →

MIC · Instrument control

5 min

Hold heading, altitude and speed at their blue targets. Use ← → to turn, ↑ ↓ to climb or descend, and power to adjust speed. Climbing slows the aircraft; descending accelerates it. Targets change every 20 seconds. Also report three consecutive even or odd numbers. Other sequences need no response. Keyboard and touch controls are available.

A practical three-week approach

01

Week 1 · Understand

Start with the documents supplied with your invitation. Try each relevant format in practice mode. Classify mistakes as misunderstood rules, incorrect spatial transformations or memory lapses. Understand the correction before collecting more attempts.

02

Week 2 · Stabilise

Alternate memory, spatial and concentration tasks. Revisit two difficulties from your previous session. Aim for dependable responses before increasing speed. For memory tasks, use a consistent reading and recall order.

03

Week 3 · Rehearse

Use timed blocks alongside official preparation materials. Check your audio and keyboard in a quiet setting. Review mistakes after the block. Avoid turning the final evening into a marathon of repetitive practice.

DLR Certificate Cockpit: useful facts

DLR states that preparation documents and access details come with the invitation. The announced Hamburg day runs approximately from 08:00 to 17:00. The certificate gives an assessment rather than a selection decision. Check the requirements of your chosen school or airline.

Mistakes worth avoiding

Learning an answer instead of a rule

Items change. Check whether you can explain why an answer is correct on a new example.

Mixing up reference frames

Tipping a cube, counting turns and identifying a tube viewpoint involve different transformations. Establish the viewpoint first.

Confusing speed with rushing

An omission, a wrong answer and a forgotten rule need different remedies. Identify what actually costs you responses.

Treating a practice score as an admission decision

Persona Prep results describe your exercises. They do not reproduce official DLR scoring or predict a school’s decision.

Choose the time you need.

All three durations include the same Pro features, including DLR practice. Choose around your assessment date.

Questions about DLR preparation

How should I prepare for the DLR test?

Begin with your invitation materials. Identify the tasks and learn their instructions, then alternate reviewed practice with timed blocks. Use official materials to confirm language, equipment and session constraints.

What is the difference between practice and timed mode?

Practice lets you answer and read corrections without a deadline, then select Next. Memory stimuli remain temporary. Timed mode applies format limits and shows corrections after the block.

Is this the official DLR test?

No. Our tasks, graphics and practice settings are independent. Public task descriptions inform the exercises; your invitation takes precedence. No practice score guarantees admission.

Are DLR exercises free?

They require Pro access. You can read this guide and explore general free samples before choosing a plan. Those samples are not a complete DLR session.

What should I recall in RMS?

Recall the heard digits in reverse order, starting from the last. In our corrected exercise the length is not announced, and consecutive correct digits count up to the first error.

Why is there no official score?

Populations, items and conditions differ. This revised version explains your responses without mixing older scores or inventing a DLR norm.

Can I practise on a phone?

Touch controls are available. Also practise audio, spatial and numeric-keypad tasks on a computer: screen size and controls change the experience.

Does the subscription include taking the DLR assessment?

No. The subscription is for Persona Prep. Registration and fees for the certificate are handled separately with the organiser.

What this preparation covers

Persona Prep offers original, independent tasks rather than official DLR questions. Physics, aviation English and an entire selection process are not covered by these 12 modules. Instrument control uses keyboard or touch; no equivalence to a test-centre joystick is claimed. Revised blocks are not compared with scores from older versions.
